Celebrate the 4th of July with the CR Municipal Band!

Join us for a 4th of July celebration Wednesday evening from 7:30-8:30!  We have a fantastic line-up of patriotic favorites in addition to our Young Artist Competition winner Gus Brown on marimba and we will close out the concert with a children’s parade around the park to The Stars and Stripes Forever!  Gather your family and friends, a lawn chair and a picnic.  Perfect for those who may not want to fight the fireworks crowd, or those who would like to enjoy some great music before heading to a fireworks show.  Hope to see you there!

Join us Sunday at Noelridge!

We begin our 4th of July celebration a little early this week at Noelridge Park, Sunday at 7:30!  Featured guest artist this week is Anthony Williams, trombone professor at UNI who will play a piece by local composer Mike Conrad.  Kids of all ages will love the medley from Moana and everyone will love the catchy trombone and clarinet features.  Join us for a beautiful Sunday evening at Noelridge from 7:30-8:30!

Bring kids to Johnson School at 7:00 Wednesday to make their own instrument before the concert!

We begin our two-week patriotic celebration and feature the kids on a piece this Wednesday at the Johnson STEAM Academy playground!  We will begin making instruments at 7:00 before the concert and the kids will get to play with the band on a medley of music from Moana.  Featured guest artist this week is Anthony Williams, trombone professor at UNI who will play a piece by local composer Mike Conrad.  Bring your kids and lawn chairs to Johnson this Wednesday!  Instrument-making begins at 7:00, concert begins at 7:30!

The CR Municipal Band Will Kick Off BBQ Roundup Thursday Night at 8:15!

Commission Meeting 28 June 2018

The City Band Commission will meet in formal session on Thursday, 28 June 2018, at 6:30 PM in the Children’s Room at the CR Public Library. This is the end-of-fiscal-year meeting, which will include an informal review of the year’s spending.

The perfect way to spend father’s day: Cedar Rapids Municipal Band concert!

The dads and grand-dads in your life will love finishing their day with the Cedar Rapids Municipal band on Sunday at Ellis!  This week’s program features our own: Joe Perea on steel pans, Christine Bellomy on klezmer clarinet, and Caleb Lambert on trombone.  The kids will enjoy hearing a medley from “Frozen,” the slightly older kids (and fun-loving adults) will enjoy music from “The Avengers,” we have a medley of marches from the biggest Broadway hits, and we close it out with one of the most popular calypsos of all time.  Find us near the river at Ellis and get there early to hear CR Jazz at 6:15!

CR Municipal Band Concert Sunday at Bever!

We dodged the rain on Wednesday night and hoping for a beautiful night on Sunday so we can perform this fantastic program one more time!   Lynn Rothrock sings with the band this week on two children’s movie favorites, a D-Day tribute, and a favorite by Iowa’s own Karl King!  Gather your friends and family and join us for a beautiful evening of music in the park.  The Municipal Band starts at 7:30, but you’ll want to come early to hear the New Horizons Band at 6:15!
