Week three is historic!

The Municipal Band makes its historic first appearance at The History Center on June 19.

This week, the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band makes its first-ever appearance at The History Center, which is now located in the stunning Douglas Mansion (800 2nd Ave. SE). We’re excited to collaborate with this important community organization that preserves and tells the stories of Linn County!

The concert at The History Center begins at 7:30, but you’ll want to arrive early to hear Steve Shanley discuss the music of John Williams. His talk begins at 6:30 inside The Douglas Mansion (cash bar available).

The Sunday night concert will be the band’s first appearance in Ellis Park this season. CR Jazz will perform a prelude concert at 6:30, and the Municipal Band will take the stage at 7:30.

This week’s highlights include:
• Music from Star Wars.
• Xavier High School flutist Callie Fay (runner up in the Young Artist Competition) and Iowa State bassoon professor Kevin Judge will be featured.
• Washington High School student Aryn Marner will sing the National Anthem and Cedar Rapids Song of Dedication.
