Occupation: President - Accent Media Incorporated; Co-Founder Creativetravelsites.com. I get to create TV commercials, corporate videos, even movies, by day and help document trips of traveling groups on the Internet through photos, audio, and video as they happen.
Family - My beautiful wife Becky, is a brilliant respiratory clinician, a good cook, and great mom to our daughter, Madison, age 4.
Hometown - Cedar Rapids
Hobbies - Reading History, Playing Marimba, Listening To Music, Playing With My Daughter and Showing/Teaching Her New Things
Favorite CRMB Piece(s): Who doesn't like anything by Sousa or a good march? Rocky Point Holiday by Ron Nelson is my single favorite CRMB

Name: Pam Patrick
Instrument: Clarinet

Occupation: Commercial Loan Administrative Assistant at US Bank. I also teach private clarinet and piano lessons.
Family: I am married to Kyle who is the Assistant Manager of West Music in Marion. We have two married daughters and 3 grandsons. We are very lucky to have our family living in Cedar Rapids so we can spoil the grandsons.
Hometown: I grew up on a farm near Olin, Iowa
Hobbies: Kyle & I both play in the Coe College Band. We also enjoy boating.
Favorite CRMB pieces: Anything by Percy Granger, Suite of Old American Dances and Eternal Father, Strong to Save.
Musicians of the Week for July 17, 2011
Name: Don Hughes
Instrument: Trumpet Number of years playing with CRMB: 16
Occupation: I am one of the band instructors for the Washington Community School district. My main assignment is grades 5 and 6, but I assist at all levels. I also instruct the color guard, front the pep band, and conduct the musicals. When I'm not teaching I play with the New Venue Big Band and the South East Iowa Symphony.
Family: My wife, Lisa, is a brilliant seamstress. You may have seenher gigantic stars on the field at the Hawkeye games. Our three pugs, Prudie, Josie, and Midge, are huge CRMB fans and attend as many concerts as they are able.
Hometown: I was raised in Iowa City and am currently residing in the booming metropolis of Washington.
Hobbies: I love to read! I have been reading comics for as long as I can remember and collecting them since I was 12. I am an active Dungeons and Dragons player, and also active in many area community theaters.
Favorite CRMB piece(s): I'm pretty easy to please as long as I get to play! This year I have enjoyed the Superman March and the March from Symphonic Metamorphosis by Hindemith.
Name: Lisa Moore

Number of years playing with CRMB: Since 1988, with a couple of years off to take care of my daughters. Occupation: Musician with Orchestra Iowa, private lesson teacher and full-time graduate student at the University of Iowa.
Family:I have two daughters: Kayla will be in ninth grade at Washington and Aryn will be in fourth grade at Erskine. My fiance is Martin Wissenberg and he is the owner and director of Riders Club of America, which provides rides to seniors and those with medical conditions that can longer drive.
Hometown:Cedar Rapids (Washington HS grad!)
Hobbies:I love to read fiction and work on stitchery.
Favorite CRMB piece(s): I love most of Alfred Reed's works, especially the Hounds of Spring.

Name: Ann McClenathan
Instrument: Horn
Number of years playing with CRMB: 16
Occupation: Horn player in the CRMB. My kids keep me busy. I have also been taking art classes at the University of Iowa.
Family: My husband Brian is a software developer at Pearson. My daughter Casey is an avid reader, plays piano & percussion and will be starting junior high this fall. My son Kaleb loves playing computer games & soccer with his friends and he just started the French horn. He is going into 6th grade this fall.
Hometown: Cedar Rapids
Hobbies: Photography, going to movies & scrapbooking.
Favorite CRMB piece(s): My favorite piece we've played so far this summer is "Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare" by Richard Strauss. I also like "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Sousa even though the horns mostly have off-beats.

Name: Tom Mackey

Number of years playing with CRMB: I started in 1995
Occupation: Principal Percussionist with Orchestra Iowa, Section Percussionist with Des Moines Symphony and private percussion instructor with 25 students.
Family: Wife, Miriam (Toyota Financial Services) and two daughters, Lydia (8) and Helen (3). Hometown: Born in Washington D.C. and lived in Ankara, Turkey for 3 years but grew up in Bowie, Maryland and Macomb, Illinois.
Hobbies: Golf, jogging, biking and reading.
Favorite CRMB piece(s): "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams. The piece brings back many memories of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (professional music fraternity) during my college years and it's a fun timpani part!

Name: Christine Bellomy
Instrument: Clarinet (I’m licensed to play this instrument, but the permit may have expired)
Number of years playing with CRMB (or the year you started): 22 years, beginning 1989, under Frank Piersol.
Occupation: My pre-occupation is said to be practicing. By day, I’m an Iowa librarian (minus polyester and eyeglass chains); by night, I become a musician (hopefully) and music teacher (insert the scary laugh here).
Family: I was born, not found under a rock, to parents who endured much practicing of music until I left for college. Many thanks to April and John Eslick for their years of tolerance.
Hometown: Currently, Coralville, IA, but was raised to band geekiness in Willard, MO.
Hobbies: Isn’t practicing a hobby? I like to read, particularly authors of series with characters who develop over time, often detective-type tales. Favorite CRMB piece(s): The one I’m playing.

Number of Years Playing with CRMB: I was a soloist as a junior in high school, became a member of the section then principal under Frank Piersol, took some time off to raise my family, then joined again when I became a commissioner. I'll let everyone else do the math.
Occupation: Musician, private flute instructor
Family: It will be 44 years with husband, George; sons, Dan and Darrick and daughter, Tamara; they are all married to wonderful spouses; and 10 grandchildren. :-)

Name: Doreen Anderson

Occupation: Instrumental Music Teacher at Jefferson High School and, new this year, at Taft Middle School
Family: I am married to Doug Anderson, a trombone player in CRMB and an insurance agent at LB Anderson Insurance, in Newhall. We have a daughter Jenny, a third grade teacher, and her husband Brandon, a landscaping designer, who live in Arlington, Texas, with our new grandson Steven; a son, Ben, who lives in Cedar Rapids, works at "Go Daddy.com", and is finishing a tuba performance degree; and a son, Wes, who is a Music and Physics major, and plays football at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. The head of our household is a 15-year-old calico cat named Kiko.
Hometown: I grew up and attended high school in Norway, Iowa, the baseball capital of the WORLD; but we also had a very good band program!
Hobbies: Gardening (mostly flowers), reading (mostly detective), TV (Psych and House)
Favorite CRMB piece(s): "American Overture", "Hounds of Spring", "The Klaxon" (because the horns get to play something besides afterbeats), and, "Armed Forces Salute", because I love to see the pride of our audience members and their families when they stand for their particular branch of the service.

Favorite CRMB piece(s): It is hard to pick just one, but of the pieces we play regularly Host's Second Suite ranks right up there. Sousa's Manhattan Beach is a favorite march--it is the only traditional American march I can think of that ends quietly.

Name: Denny Hodge
Instrument: Trumpet (Cornet)
Number of years playing with CRMB: 31
Occupation: Corporate Business Continuity Manager for AEGON USA. This means I'm responsible for ensuring the business can continue in a disaster or business disruption.
Family: Terri, my wife of nearly 31 years and I both teach privately. Terri is the bell choir director at three local churches and I direct the choir at All Saints Parish in Cedar Rapids. Our oldest son, Chris, is just finishing his second year as the instrumental music teacher at the St. Maur International School in Yokohama, Japan. Nick, is the Technical Director and Assistant Artistic at the Old Creamery Theater in Amana. You'll see him on stage frequently with the Children's theater productions. Erin, is a junior in the Dance program at the University of Iowa and is also a seasonal character actor at Disney World in Orlando. Jonah, our 8-year-old, is a budding piano player, who loves to swim and plays soccer because dad makes him.
Hometown: Born in Columbus, OH, but have lived in Marion since I was 3 or 4. Graduated from Linn Mar High School and Coe College.
Hobbies: In addition to music, I am a licensed pilot and am in the process of building an airplane. I'm also an avid golfer and coach soccer for the Eastern Iowa region of AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization). Favorite CRMB piece(s): My favorite CRMB pieces as a player are the Broadway medleys. I've always loved musical theater and still enjoy playing many of the “musical” medleys in the band's library.
