Robert Sadilek-Bass Trombone-Commission Chairman-Cedar Rapids Municipal Band
Bob Sadilek was very excited to join the CRMB in 1952, and today, 59 years later, he is just as enthusiastic. Bob played bass trombone with the Cedar Rapids Symphony for 17 years, and with the Air Force Academy Band for 4 years. He has also been a proud member of the Iowa Military Veterans Band for the last 10 years. After graduating from Coe College (BM Ed.) and Colorado University (MA), Bob spent the next 35 years as the dedicated band director at McKinley Junior High School in Cedar Rapids. Bob has remained active in music since his retirement by not only playing, but also teaching privately trombone, baritone and tuba. Bob and Judy Sadilek have been married for 48 years, and their 3 daughters, one son, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson keep them busy with family activities. Bob says his family and his music involvement keeps him motivated, especially his involvement with the CRMB. He is very appreciative to be part of such a fine group of musicians. Bob's involvement in the CRMB has always been as a trombone player, and since 1977 this has also included being a band commissioner. At present Bob serves as chairman of the commission.
