Amy Sams - Band Librarian
Amy Sams has served on the Municipal Band Commission since 2005 and became band librarian in 2011. She enjoys not only her role as a Commissioner and the work this group does behind the scenes, but also loves playing in the band’s flute section several times each summer as a substitute member. It is a thrill for her to be able to perform alongside many of the best musicians from the area. Amy is currently a part-time band director at Prairie Point Middle School where she teaches 7th grade band and woodwind lessons to 7th, 8th, and 9th students. She also teaches private flute lessons to area middle school and high school students in her home on the Southeast side of Cedar Rapids. She and her husband, Nathan, have a two year-old son, Everett.
