Alex Shields is in his first year as Head Sound Technician for the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band. He is a senior at Coe College, where he plays percussion in the Concert Band and and piano in the Jazz Band. He has served as Music Director or Assistant Music Director for productions at local high schools, Theatre Cedar Rapids, Starlighters II Theatre, and Act I of Benton County. Alex's father, Randy, is Director of Technology at Source Media Group, and his mother, Lisa Bemus Shields, is a realtor for Iowa Realty. He also has a sister, Emily, and brother, Cooper (Randy and Cooper can often be seen assisting Alex with CRMB sound in the summers!). About the CRMB, Alex states, "Seeing some of the best local professional and non-professional musicians performing in a relaxed environment is a unique and thoroughly enjoyable experience that is unlike any other opportunity available throughout the year!"
